The SEAT 127 was launched in April 1972 and stayed in production until 1981. It has the honour of being the first front-wheel drive SEAT and also the first one with more than a million units built.
During its time, and also for years after that, the 127 was one of the most popular cars for the amateur drivers willing to take part in rallies and hill-climbs. Its lightness, a responsive chassis and an eager engine made it one of the most competitive class 1 cars, for vehicles under 1 litre. In fact, the 127 almost monopolized this category, bringing to life the national and regional road racing scene.
As a way to remember the 127's dimension as a popular car for rallying and hill-climbs, SEAT HISTÓRICOS has had for some years now a standard 127 prepared according Group 2 regulations (improved series production touring cars).
This Group 2 SEAT 127 is used extensively in regularity rallies for historic cars. Its track record boasts several participations in the Monte-Carlo Historique Rally, including a class victory in the 2017 edition of the most famous regularity rally in the world. Besides, the SEAT HISTÓRICOS' 127 finished in a great 3rd place overall two years in a row in the Andorra Winter Rally, in 2016 and 2017.
